We do not want to euthanize our gorgeous, lilac tri, mini English Bulldog, who is only one year old spayed and fully vaccinated, very healthy…but that is where things are headed. She is super stressed and anxious as a result of moving into a huge family friendly neighborhood with people, dogs, and kids constantly outside biking, running, dog walking, etc. We’ve consulted a trainer and had a training session too with him, and he let us know Birdee is very fearful and thinking she has to lead me, which is scary to her, and producing these unwanted behaviors. We would continue to work with her, but she has been snappy when being recrated in the middle of the night, snappy with vet office when she was waiting for spay, and now is resource guarding things from me which is new, so clearly her fear is escalating in the new neighborhood.
We have small children, and with Birdee starting to resource guard this is not a situation we are willing to entertain at all. We need to either rehome her immediately with an experienced foster who has no other dogs or children at home, or compassionately euthanize which is a terrible choice to have to make.
Can you help?? We are in north Florida and will drive to you tomorrow (Friday) to get her situated, if you can assist. I understand if you cannot assist too but she deserves a second chance and often is the sweetest little dog, it’s just the resource guarding that we cannot have her in our home, and she needs someone who can help her.
