Dexter

He is an incredibly loving, affectionate, and happy dog who loves being around his people. He has a sweet personality and is very eager to interact and be part of the family. He knows his basic commands and is a smart dog who has the potential to continue learning and thriving with the right structure and guidance. His biggest challenge is that he is a very large, high-energy dog who can sometimes get overly excited and has difficulty controlling his impulses, especially around young children. He is not aggressive, but because of his size and excitement, he can be a bit of a “bull in a china shop” and may accidentally bump into, jump on, or overwhelm children. He simply doesn’t always realize how big and strong he is. We truly believe he would do well with someone who understands large, energetic dogs and can provide consistent structure, exercise, training, and attention. A home with adults or older children who are more comfortable around a large, energetic dog may allow him to be his happiest self.
